Welcome to the "Green Future" Kids Festival!
What goes on at the Green Future Kids Festival?
In a globalized world with a diversity of cultures, we all have a precious resource in common. The Earth. In these challenging environmental times it’s vital to instill in our children an appreciation for other cultures and a respect for the planet that sustains us. The Green Future Kids Festival allows families to spend quality time together while also teaching kids important values in a fun and familiar setting. Here’s a look at the Festival’s structure and past participation.
The Festival has six activity areas as follows:
Past participants have included:
Multicultural Program and give away: This section of the Festival highlights the diverse cultures in our local community. Past performers include, the Tongo Island Dancers, Kalina Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, Chinese Children’s Dance Group, James Barrera’s American Folk Dance, teen rock-star Yana Tkachuk and the International Gymnastic Center. To heighten the excitement, raffles and prizes are awarded during the day!
Small stage: This area hosts entertainment favorites such as the Radio Disney DJ, bouncy castle face painting, and art classes by artist Lena Walker.
Sports activity area: This section offers classic physical activities such as soccer, tug of war, among others. There was also a martial arts performance last year by the students of Stanislav Holodkov from the Grant Community School.
Petting zoo: This is always a kid favorite! An opportunity to interact with animals such as ponies, sheep, goats, bonneys…and chickens in a controlled and instructional environment.
Farmers market: It is never too early to learn about the earth-friendly goodness of fresh, locally-grown produce. This is where you taste, learn about and purchase the fruit and veggie bounty of local farmers!
To add to the fun and variety of the Festival, local merchants and organizations showcase their businesses and missions by staffing booths.
In 2009 over 1000 people attended the festival. |
